The moon hangs low, casting long shadows across a rain-slicked alley. LADY JUSTICE, blindfolded and draped in a flowing robe, strides purposefully down the narrow path. Her SCALES of justice hang balanced in one hand, and her SWORD gleams in the other.
FOOTSTEPS echo behind her.
She pauses, tilting her head. The alley is eerily silent, save for the distant wail of a siren. Her grip on the sword tightens.
Suddenly — a FIGURE lunges from the shadows, cloaked in darkness. THE MUGGER, face obscured by a hood, grabs Lady Justice by the arm.
LADY JUSTICE
Who dares challenge justice?
The Mugger wrestles the scales from her grasp. Coins spill onto the ground, glinting in the moonlight.
MUGGER
Justice? (scoffs) Justice is blind, but I'm not.
Lady Justice swings her sword, but the Mugger sidesteps and SLAMS her into the brick wall. She collapses to her knees, sword clattering to the ground.
The Mugger kneels beside her, wrenching the blindfold from her eyes. She gasps, revealing eyes filled with a mix of fury and sorrow.
MUGGER
Look around you. Justice isn't enough anymore.
The Mugger yanks the scales from her trembling hands and disappears into the shadows.
Lady Justice struggles to rise, gripping her sword with renewed resolve. Rain falls harder, washing away the spilled coins.
She stands, battered but unbroken, blindfold slipping from her fingers.
LADY JUSTICE
Justice... shall prevail.
