On October 30 ,2024, at 5:30am, you respond to 1080 N. Hillside St., Wichita relative to a body found in the park. When you arrive, the scene is taped off with crime scene tape, three patrol units and an ambulance is at the scene. The body is of a man who is laying on its side wearing an expensive suit. There are obvious gunshot wounds to the victim including one to the neck which has produced a significant amount of blood to pool under the body. The homicide is assigned Case No. 24-098775.
The responding patrol officer tells you that he was dispatched to the area to investigate a body seen by a passing jogger near the Maple Grove Cemetery. When he arrived, the patrol officer found the body and used crime scene tape to secure the scene. The reporting person claimed that he was out for a morning jog and while running alongside the cemetery, noticed the body then immediately called 911. The jogger did not see anyone or anything else in the area.
There is a potential witness who identified himself as Badger. Badger told patrol that he had just dropped off his girlfriend who lives at 1211 N. Hillside Street when he saw a green car speeding past him.
The following items of evidence were recovered at the crime scene:
• Three (3) 9mm spent cartridge casings near the victim
• One half empty beer can
• One iPhone from the victim’s hand which is locked with a passcode
• One men’s wallet with a California driver’s license in the name of Gustavo Fring,
Hispanic male, DOB: 03/04/1965 located in the victim’s pants pocket
• $2,153 in cash
• One glassine baggie that contains suspected (field tested) methamphetamine found under the victim once the body was transported
Intelligence reveals that murder victim Gustavo Fring, a/k/a “Gus” is a two-time convicted felon for unlawful possession of a weapon and distribution of methamphetamine both occurring in the State of California. He has no known gang affiliation. The victim has no arrests in Wichita.
The victim’s address on his driver’s license is 25564 Housman Place, Stevenson Ranch, CA.
A Facebook social media account with the screen name of “Hermano_gus1” was found. The posts are relatively bland but one photograph from the account shows the victim sitting at a desk with large stacks of money. There is only one comment to the photograph post which is:
